Kyler Murray to Chiefs? Adam Schefter Floats Surprising Landing Spot amid Patrick Mahomes Injury
The Kansas City Chiefs could choose to target Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray during the offseason while Patrick Mahomes recovers from a torn ACL.
ESPN's Adam Schefter brought up the Chiefs as a possible landing spot for Murray during a Thursday appearance on NFL Live.
"I know everybody's attaching him to Minnesota and maybe he does wind up there," Schefter said regarding Murray (2:30 mark). "But maybe he goes to Kansas City and fills in while Patrick Mahomes recovers."

The Indianapolis Colts were also listed as an option while Daniel Jones recovers from his injury.
Schefter previously reported the Cardinals informed Murray that they plan to release him when the new league year begins on Wednesday, barring a trade. The two-time Pro Bowler has been linked to the Minnesota Vikings.
Murray only appeared in five games with Arizona last season before missing the remainder of the year due to a foot injury. He completed 68.3 percent of his throws for 962 yards and six touchdowns compared to three interceptions across his five starts.
As for the Chiefs, they're looking to return to the AFC playoff picture next season after wrapping up a disappointing 6-11 finish in 2025. Mahomes wasn't able to finish the year, as he went down with the torn ACL in Week 15.
Although the two-time MVP is targeting a Week 1 return during the 2026 season, Kansas City could take a cautious approach with his recovery.
If Mahomes' season debut is delayed, the Chiefs may bring in an experienced signal-caller such as Murray to become their new backup.
