New Rashid Shaheed Rumors on Seahawks Contract Amid NFL Free Agency Buzz
Rashid Shaheed could be hitting the free agency market.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the wide receiver and the Seattle Seahawks are not "close to an extension," and the "expectation" is that he will become a free agent.
Shaheed, who started his career with the New Orleans Saints after going undrafted in 2022, is coming off a season in which he recorded 687 yards and two touchdowns. He was traded to the Seahawks in return for 2026 fourth and fifth-round picks ahead of the deadline in November.
While Shaheed's total numbers for the 2025 campaign weren't bad, he didn't do much after being traded to Seattle. In nine games with the Seahawks, he had just 15 receptions for 188 yards. Had he played at that pace for the entire season, he would have posted the worst numbers of his career by far.
He didn't do much in the playoffs, either, recording three receptions for 78 yards across three games.
In Shaheed's defense, he was playing in a talented wide receiver room led by Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp, and there are only so many targets to go around. In New Orleans, on the other hand, he was the Saints' No. 2 option.
If a team is willing to bet on Shaheed being the version of himself that he was while with the Saints, he could end up landing a decent contract. According to Spotrac, he has a market value of $14.1 million per year.
