Prior to the deal, Cincinnati had $47.2 million in cap space.

The 26-year-old will be experiencing a change of scenery for the first time in his career, previously spending four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs after the team selected him with a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft.

While Cook primarily operated on special teams as a rookie, he carved out a role in the Chiefs' first-string defense during his second year and never looked back.

He started all 17 games throughout his latest season in 2025, amassing 85 tackles, six passes defended and one tackle for loss. Cook allowed just 8.7 yards per reception when targeted, according to Pro Football Focus.

He served as a key starter on a Kansas City defense that ranked No. 6 in the NFL by giving up a mere 19.3 points on a weekly basis.

2025 marked the second consecutive strong season for Cook, as he recorded 78 tackles and five passes defended during his 2024 campaign after compiling 75 tackles and four passes defended over his first two years combined.

Now, Cincinnati will be hoping that he continues on his current trajectory as the team attempts to build upon a 6-11 record in 2025.
