New Eagles Rumors on David Njoku Links amid Dallas Goedert Buzz in NFL Free Agency

Joseph ZuckerMar 3, 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles maintain a level of interest in free-agent tight end David Njoku, according to Eagles insider Eliot Shorr-Parks.

Philly could be in the market for a Dallas Goedert replacement, whom NBC Sports' Matthew Berry reported Monday "will definitely be moving on" from based on what he heard at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Goedert is likewise a free agent, and it wouldn't be surprising if the Eagles wanted to make a change at tight end. That said, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday that the team "has expressed interest" in bringing Goedert back:

Goedert's 11 touchdowns were both the most on the team and a career high, but his 39.4 receiving yards per game were his fewest since his rookie year in 2018. At 31, he's not getting any younger, either.

The Eagles may see Njoku as a veteran alternative who won't cost that much while possessing some upside value.

The 2023 Pro Bowler will turn 30 in July, so age doesn't separate him much from Goedert. He's also coming off a disappointing season in which he caught 33 passes for 293 yards and four touchdowns.

The obvious argument in favor of Njoku is that Jalen Hurts, for all of his faults, would be the best quarterback he's had to this point in his career. With more consistent QB play, he could look a lot better than he did in 2024 and 2025.

The 6'4", 246-pound pass-catcher is also a different athlete from Goedert and would provide a slightly new dimension to the passing game.

In short, Njoku and the Eagles would be a great fit.
