UConn WCBB Completes Its 11th Undefeated Regular Season, Where Does 47-Game Winning Streak Rank?
Geno Auriemma has once again led UConn to a perfect regular season.
The top-ranked Huskies downed St. John's on Sunday to improve to 31-0 ahead of the Big East tournament, which begins this week. The win also extended UConn's win streak to 47 games, the fifth-longest in D-I history.
More often than not, an undefeated season for UConn leads to a championship. Out of 10 previous unbeaten seasons, the Huskies went on to win a national title in seven of them.
"They all kind of have similar characteristics, the ones I've been involved in," Auriemma said, per The Athletic's Chantel Jennings. "Really close-knit teams that really love playing together, and you get a little bit of something from everybody every night. They've been fun to coach."
UConn has not lost a game since last February, as the Huskies finished last season 37-3 en route to a national championship. If Auriemma can keep the winning streak alive through the postseason, it will mark his 13th national title and first back-to-back title since the Huskies' run from 2013-16.
