Ty Simpson at 2026 NFL Combine Measurements, Highlights and Reaction

Julia StumbaughFeb 28, 2026

Former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson got a chance to cement his ranking as QB2 in the 2026 NFL draft on Saturday during the scouting combine in Indianapolis.

Simpson started out the day by measuring in at 6'1'' and 211 pounds, with a 30 7/8" arm span and 9 3/8" handspan.

He showed off his passing skills during combine drills later Saturday evening.

Some viewers watching the combine were impressed by Simpson's accuracy on the passing drills.

Simpson is ranked as the No. 28 overall prospect on Bleacher Report's latest big board, as well as the No. 2 quarterback behind Indiana's Fernando Mendoza.

B/R NFL scout Damian Parson described Simpson as "a highly accurate quarterback who fits passes between defenders," but noted the quarterback has some flaws to his game due at least in part to having just one season of starting experience.

Simpson led Alabama to an 11-4 record last season while passing for 3,567 yards with 28 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Compared to other quarterbacks, however, Simpson is coming into the draft with a relatively limited experience after seeing limited playing time in his first three seasons at Alabama. He is looking to go pro after making just 15 college starts.

Simpson, who did not participate in drills like the 40-yard dash or vertical jump, could potentially do some athletic testing during Alabama's pro day on March 19.

Scouts will then get their next look at Mendoza, who did not throw at the combine, when Indiana's pro day takes place April 1.

Both quarterbacks will then hope to hear their names called when the 2026 NFL draft kicks off April 23 in Pittsburgh.
