New NFL Rumors on Possible Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, More Cowboys Contract Restructures
Sitting a league-worst $56 million over the salary cap after using the franchise tag on George Pickens, the Dallas Cowboys are set to restructure several big-money contracts on their books to get compliant.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cowboys are going to restructure the deals for Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Tyler Smith that will create $66 million in cap space.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters at the NFL scouting combine on Friday that the team also plans to rework the contracts of Kenny Clark, Quinnen Williams and Osa Odighizuwa. That trio is set to count $63 million against the cap on their current deals.

As Jones explains it, one reason for all of these moves is because the Cowboys want to be more active in free agency than they have been in recent years.
"I want you to know that the only way to push more [out] is for me to go borrow some of my future, OK?" Jones said. "Expect me to go borrow some of my future."
Per ESPN's Todd Archer, the Cowboys could add voidable years to the contracts for Clark and Williams before restructuring them. Odighizuwa already has three void years on his contract from 2029 to '31, so that gives them plenty of runway already to rework his money.
Williams' deal runs through 2027 and already has two void years through 2029. Clark is signed through 2027 with no void years on his contract.
Patrik Walker of Cowboys.com noted the Cowboys can clear more than $131 million in cap space just in restructures, with the possibility of an additional $52 million.
It would seem unlikely the Cowboys would go that far to push that much money into the future, but this is an offseason in which they have the ability to be more aggressive than they have been because they have two top-20 picks in this year's draft even if they don't necessarily go the free-agent route.
For instance, if the Las Vegas Raiders were to make Maxx Crosby available in a trade, the Cowboys would be an obvious landing spot given their need for a pass-rusher and draft capital to build a deal around.
Recent history has shown that the Cowboys are among the lowest-spending teams in free agency, but perhaps missing the playoffs in back-to-back years will push Jones to step out of his comfort zone.
