Artemi Panarin Gifts Kings Mascot a Rolex in Photos to Wear Jersey Number After Rangers Trade
Artemi Panarin gave Los Angeles Kings mascot Bailey a gift as thanks for sharing the lion's jersey number.
The Kings shared photos Tuesday of Panarin gifting Bailey with a Rolex while the two wore matching No. 72 sweaters.
Bailey wears No. 72 "because it's always 72 degrees in Los Angeles," according to the Mascot Hall of Fame.
Panarin wore No. 72 when he first entered the NHL as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2015.
The winger has since worn No. 9 with the Columbus Blue Jackets and No. 10 with the New York Rangers.
Panarin returned to his original jersey number after he was traded from the Rangers, and signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Kings, on Feb. 5.
He was wearing No. 72 while making his Kings debut on Wednesday, during which he recorded two assists in a 6-4 home loss to the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Kings, who currently sit three points back of a Wild Card spot, will hope to see Panarin score his first goal in black and silver when the team returns to action Thursday night against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. Puck drop is set for 10:30 p.m. ET.
