New Bears Trade Rumors on DJ Moore, Tyson Bagent and Gervon Dexter Ahead of 2026 NFL Combine
The Chicago Bears have reportedly received trade inquiries on multiple players recently, led by wide receiver DJ Moore.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, teams have also called the Bears about backup quarterback Tyson Bagent and defensive tackle Gervon Dexter in addition to Moore.
Per Schultz, Moore is "viewed as available for the right price" by teams who are in the market for a wideout via trade, free agency or the draft.
The 28-year-old Moore has spent the past three seasons in Chicago following a trade from the Carolina Panthers.
His production has steadily declined since setting career highs in receiving yardage (1,364) and receiving touchdowns (eight) during his first season with the Bears in 2023.
In 2024, caught a career-high 98 passes, but only for 966 yards, giving him a career-low 9.9 yards per reception.
His numbers fell off a cliff last season as his 50 receptions and 682 yards were both career lows, although he did catch six touchdowns and rush for another.
It can be argued that Caleb Williams provided Moore with the best quarterback play of his career in 2025, but that didn't translate to huge stats, mainly due to the fact that Williams spread the ball around in head coach Ben Johnson's offense.
Moore tied for the team lead in touchdown catches and was second in both receptions and receiving yards, but seven Bears players had between 30 and 58 catches, and four finished with between 652 and 713 receiving yards.
With wide receivers Rome Odunze and Luther Burden, plus tight end Colston Loveland all delivering comparable numbers to Moore, it can be argued that Moore is now expendable, especially since he is due $23.485 million each of the next four seasons and carries a $28.5 million cap hit in 2026, per Spotrac.
As for Bagent, he is blocked by Williams, who is the Bears' franchise quarterback and projected starter for the next decade-plus.
The 25-year-old went 2-2 in four starts as a rookie in 2023, throwing for 859 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions, but he has barely played since Williams went first overall in the 2024 NFL draft.
While there is a great deal of value in having a quality backup quarterback who is familiar with the offense, trading Bagent could be worth at least considering if a team is willing to offer something better than a Day 3 draft pick.
On the defensive side of the ball, Dexter is preparing to enter his fourth NFL season after going 53rd overall in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft to Chicago.
Dexter is coming off his best season, as he started all 17 games, made 44 tackles and set or matched career highs in sacks (six), tackles for loss (six) and fumble recoveries (two).
If the Bears trade Dexter, it will be because they don't intend on re-signing him, as he can become a free agent after the 2026 season.
Chicago can potentially absorb the loss of Dexter with veteran Grady Jarrett and 2025 second-round pick Shemar Turner at defensive tackle, but trading him would significantly hurt the depth of the Bears' interior defensive line.
If anything, the most logical move for the Bears may be to add rather than subtract after going 11-6, winning the NFC North and reaching the NFC Divisional Round of the playoffs last season.
