New Updates on Lamar Jackson's Ravens Contract Talks amid NFL Rumors on QB's Future

Julia StumbaughFeb 24, 2026

Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said Tuesday he is "confident" his team can reach an agreement on a new deal with star quarterback Lamar Jackson this offseason, per Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun.

"I have spoken to Lamar about a lot of different things over the last month. He's been very engaged. As I said, he was a big value to us in the coaching search," DeCosta said Tuesday. "But we'll continue those conversations going forward."

Ravens owner Steve Biscotti said in March that the Ravens are hoping to sign Jackson to an extension and lower his 2026 cap hit before free agency begins March 11.

DeCosta said the Ravens planned to keep details of their talks with Jackson "in house" going forward.

The Ravens will need cap space in order to re-sign center Tyler Linderbaum, who DeCosta said had received a "market-setting" contract offer from the franchise, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Creed Humphrey currently leads all centers with an annual average salary of $18 million, per Over the Cap.

DeCosta originally told reporters that contract talks with Jackson were "ongoing" as of last August.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo recently reported that Jackson has remained involved with the Ravens this offseason, including by weighing in on the team's hirings of head coach Jesse Minter and offensive coordinator Declan Doyle.

The Ravens currently have $22 million in projected cap space for 2026, per Over the Cap.

That's without renegotiating the contract of Jackson, who is currently set to cost the Ravens a cap hit of $74.5 million in each of the next two seasons.

Bisciotti said when speaking to reporters in January that he was hoping Jackson would be willing to sign a deal similar to the five-year, $260 million contract he agreed to ahead of the 2023 season.

Jackson is currently signed through 2027 on that deal. Adding another three years to his contract would keep him in Baltimore through his age-33 season in 2030.

"I think that he's amenable to doing something that mirrors the last deal he did, although the annual number will be a little higher," Bisciotti said in January (h/t BaltimoreRavens.com's Ryan Mink and Justin Robertson). "But I'm hoping that it's plug a new number in the same contract he signed [in 2023] and move on."

Bisciotti added that the Ravens felt "urgency" to resolve Jackson's contract because the team didn't want his cap hit to negatively impact their free agency plans.

"I made that clear to Lamar, and I think he was very appreciative of my stance, and hopefully, willing to work with Eric and not get this thing dragged out into April like it was the last time," Bisciotti said in January.

Bisciotti, DeCosta and the Ravens have just over two weeks to resolve contract talks with Jackson before the 2026 free agency signing period opens March 11 at 4 p.m. ET.
