Nick Sirianni 'Can't Guarantee' A.J. Brown Will Stay With Eagles Amid NFL Trade Rumors

Joseph ZuckerFeb 24, 2026

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was noncommittal when asked whether star wide receiver A.J. Brown will remain with the team through the 2026 offseason.

"Will A.J. be here next season? I think we're still in a spot, like, I can't guarantee how anything is going to play out into next season," Sirianni told reporters. "I'm thinking I'm going to be the coach next season but you can't guarantee anything past tomorrow."

The coach also called Brown "a great player" who's a "good teammate" and "good person," adding he wants the three-time Pro Bowler in Philly.

General manager Howie Roseman was similarly evasive. He repeated his earlier remark that "it's really hard to find great players" while at the same time saying the Eagles will listen to "offers for everything and anything."

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Feb. 14 the Eagles haven't "made any firm determination yet on the future of A.J. Brown." Rival teams are at least under the impression they "would entertain a trade."

Brown has had four straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons, and the three-year, $96 million extension he signed in 2024 hasn't even gone into effect yet. For a team with Super Bowl ambitions, holding onto the 28-year-old pass-catcher makes obvious sense.

However, the Eagles may be wary of having another campaign where Brown's contentment and his relationship with Sirianni are running storylines. It was a steady subplot for Philly in 2025, and the coach's exasperation was clear midway through.

Brown hasn't been the kind of malcontent who negatively impacts the locker room, and whatever frustration he felt didn't influence his effort level on the field. Still, the situation merited the intervention of team owner Jeffrey Lurie last fall, so it's understandable if the Eagles decide they want to move on.
