A.J. Brown Trade Rumors Update, Timeline for Potential Offers Ahead of Eagles' 2026 NFL Free Agency

Adam WellsFeb 14, 2026

Amid some significant changes to their coaching staff this offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles are still trying to figure out what their plan is for A.J. Brown.

On the Saturday morning episode of SportsCenter, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported the expectation around the league is that the Eagles will at least "entertain" trade offers for the star wide receiver and the NFL combine could be when any discussions start to happen:

"Philadelphia has not made any firm determination yet on the future of A.J. Brown. They've just been trying to fill out their offensive staff, new OC Sean Mannion. But some executives I've talked to around the league have long believed that Philly this offseason would entertain a trade because he'd have a robust market, strong value, top receiver still and he's only 28 years old. So, teams will probably inquire here soon coming up. You've got the NFL combine in a few weeks, that is a matter that can heat up."

Brown's 2025 season was defined more by what he was saying off the field than anything he did on it. He seemed unhappy about his usage at various points, including through messaging on social media.

Brown did say at times that his frustrations were more about the offense as a whole, but things never seemed to calm down over the course of the season.

One of the final images of Brown from the 2025 campaign was having what appeared to be a heated argument with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni on the sidelines during Philadelphia's playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Sirianni downplayed the situation, saying after the game it was emotions running over in the moment and they are "just fine, thanks."

Since the season ended, the Eagles have replaced Kevin Patullo with Sean Mannion as offensive coordinator and saw legendary offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland step down. Vic Fangio contemplated retirement before deciding to return as defensive coordinator in 2026.

Brown's situation is complicated because it would be financially difficult for the Eagles to trade his contract. He would account for $43.4 million in dead cap money next season as a pre-June 1 trade, but that number would go down to $16.4 million if he gets moved after June 1.

The three-time Pro Bowler was still productive in 2025 even with all of the frustrations in the offense. He finished with 1,003 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 15 starts.

It would be surprising if Brown didn't have a trade market, but the combination of his age—he will turn 29 on June 30—and contract might make a potential return for the Eagles lighter than expected given his name recognition.
