Jack Hughes' Old Letter to Himself About Representing USA in Olympics Surfaces After Gold-Medal Win
New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes wrote a letter to his future self in 2019, when he was drafted No. 1 overall and had his entire professional career ahead of him.
In that letter, Hughes spoke about his NHL-playing brothers (older brother Quinn and younger brother Luke) and envisioned the possibility of them all winning gold together for Team USA in the Winter Olympics.

Seven years later, Jack and Quinn Hughes did just that thanks largely to their efforts.
Quinn Hughes scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Team USA's 2-1 overtime win over Sweden in the quarterfinal round.
The Americans then defeated Slovakia 6-2 in the quarterfinal round, with Jack Hughes scoring two goals.
He then became an overnight legend after scoring the game-winning overtime goal to lead Team USA to a 2-1 gold medal game win over Team Canada.
The Americans, who also went 3-0 in group play for a perfect 6-0 record, won Olympic gold in men's hockey for the first time since 1980 and the third time overall.
