'The Cheetah Will Be Back,' Tyreek Hill Reacts to Dolphins Release Amid Injury Rehab in IG Photo

The Miami Dolphins moved on from Tyreek Hill on Monday, a somewhat expected move after the veteran receiver's devastating knee injury last season.

Hill has no plans of retiring, though. He said on his Instagram on Monday that "The Cheetah will be back."

His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, gave an update on his health on Monday, saying that he's "progressing well" and adding that he hopes to play again.

Hill joined the Dolphins ahead of the 2022 campaign, and his first two seasons were outstanding as he recorded 1,700-plus receiving yards in both 2022 and 2023. His play declined in 2024 as starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed part of the season, and Hill failed to record 1,000 or more receiving yards for the first time since 2019.

Disaster struck just four games into the 2025 season when Hill suffered a dislocated knee and a torn ACL, sidelining him for the remainder of the year. He finished the campaign with 265 yards and a touchdown.

Hill hinted at the possibility of retiring back in October, but clearly, he has changed his mind.

"Right now, I'm happy with being with my kids," Hill said on "The Set" podcast (h/t Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post). "I'm happy with the career that I've had and I love playing football. I love it. But it, man, but it takes a lot, man, to be the best and to stay at the top... And I'm at the point now where I need to have a conversation with Mom, family, everybody. Like I said, wherever my mind is at the time, the decision to be made, but I just know right now I feel like I haven't had time to just live in the moment, and just be in the moment with my family."

While Hill appears keen on making a comeback, it's fair to wonder whether the 31-year-old will be able to return to being an All-Pro receiver after suffering such a significant injury. Another question plenty of teams will have is whether he'll be able to suit up during the 2026 campaign.

Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter back in September that the "realistic goal" was for Hill to be ready to go for the start of the season. Hill gave an update last week, but didn't clarify his timeline.

"I'm feeling good. I mean, I'm walking with no brace on right now," he told Skyler Caruso of People. "I'm in my second week of walking with no brace, so I'm proud of that. So I'm feeling good."

The Dolphins are likely heading toward a rebuild, so it made sense to save some money and move on from Hill. The five-time All-Pro receiver isn't ready to call it a career just yet, though, and he'll look to find his way onto a roster this spring.
