Heisman finalist makes history after going undrafted
Chubb, 29, was among a number of high-profile releases from the Miami Dolphins this offseason in cap-cutting moves, which included wideout Tyreek Hill and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The team is clearly transitioning into a new era under head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and cleaned house.
But Chubb was always going to be a popular target in free agency for teams in need of an upgrade rushing the passer. He notched 8.5 sacks in 2025 and now has 27.5 sacks and 62 quarterback hits across the past three seasons.
The two-time Pro Bowler has never quite matched his epic rookie season from 2018 (12 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles), but he's nonetheless been a reliable source of pressure throughout his career.
And while there were some very solid options in the edge-rusher market this offseason (Trey Hendrickson, Odafe Oweh, Jaelan Phillips, Khalil Mack, Kwity Paye, Joey Bosa, etc.) Chubb was always going to be one of the more attractive options.
His time in Miami didn't go as planned, though it's hard to blame Chubb for that outcome. Buffalo is hoping he's the missing piece as they seek a title.
