Bradley Chubb Reportedly to Be Cut from Dolphins, What Are Top Landing Spots in NFL Free Agency?

Joseph ZuckerFeb 16, 2026

The Miami Dolphins are cutting veteran pass-rusher Bradley Chubb, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Were the Dolphins to designate him as a post-June 1 release, they'd save $20.2 million for the 2026 season and carry dead salary cap hits of $11 million and $12.9 million over the next two years.

After missing the entire 2024 campaign because of a torn ACL, Chubb appeared in all 17 of Miami's games this past season. He finished with 8.5 sacks and 47 total tackles.

Given his career resume, the two-time Pro Bowler should have little trouble landing on his feet. He may have to take a pay cut from the $18.2 million salary he averaged with Miami, though.

The Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals all make sense given their need to strengthen the pass rush combined with what are likely to be their ambitions for 2026.

The Ravens tied for the third-fewest sacks (30) in the NFL, and Travis Jones was the team leader with five. Kyle Van Noy simply wasn't as effective as he was in his 2024 Pro Bowl season, while trading Odafe Oweh backfired as he immediately flourished with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Star quarterback Lamar Jackson missing four games played a role in Baltimore's 8-9 finish, but the team had some glaring holes across the roster. Edge defender was one of them, and general manager Eric DeCosta will need to strengthen that position in some form.

Although the Cowboys acquired Quinnen Williams midway through the season, a Micah Parsons-sized vacancy remains in the defense. It's not a coincidence the team went from third in sacks (52) to a tie for 22nd (35) after trading Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

Chubb would be an upgrade over Jadeveon Clowney, who had the unenviable task of replacing the three-time All-Pro.

Playing hardball with Trey Hendrickson was pretty much a bust for the Bengals.

His reworked contract didn't add any years, so he's hitting free agency this spring. Hendrickson's contributions also failed to move the needle. He had just four sacks in seven appearances, and Cincy lost 11 games.

Since a reunion is likely out of the question, Chubb would help to bolster the defense as the Bengals try to execute a turnaround.
