BS Meter on Latest WrestleMania 42 Buzz, Bad Bunny's WWE Return, CM Punk and More

Chris RolingFeb 14, 2026

Injuries and changed plans have disrupted WWE's WrestleMania season in a big way.

Now the rumor mill is chaos.

Good luck keeping up, too. One brief lapse in attention and there's buzz around major star returns, 'Mania-altering injuries, possible wished-for matchups with international implications and the name Brock Lesnar making the rounds.

To help fans keep pace with all the buzz, let's put the biggest rumors against the BS Meter, with 10 being the highest form of unbelievable buzz fans can safely dismiss.

AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch Update

1 of 6
Monday Night RAW

The Rumor

Maybe fans shouldn't be disappointed about Elimination Chamber. According to Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch happening on that PLE is very much by design.

Reaction

Translation: Trust the process, basically. Fans want Lee and Lynch at WrestleMania. It is very painfully obvious a generation-spanning feud that should get a prime spot at the biggest show of the year. And it still might.

BS Meter: 1

It's a little frustrating to think that Lee vs. Lynch at 'Mania could be a retread so soon. But it's still a believable bit of buzz. And silver lining? If WWE does it right, it doesn't have to underwhelm, too.

Why CM Punk vs. Finn Bálor?

2 of 6
Monday Night RAW

The Rumor

WWE has turned a few heads by having Finn Bálor as the guy challenge CM Punk at Elimination Chamber. But according to SelfMade (h/t Ortman), it was Punk who specifically wanted to work with him.

Reaction

Punk and Bálor don't have a lot of in-ring history in WWE, so this is a fun one. Given the stacked Elimination Chamber card and the need to keep the champion away from Roman Reigns, this makes sense.

BS Meter: 3

Hard to complain about this rumor. The match makes all sorts of sense and should meet expectations. There's a painfully obvious result here, perhaps even via interference. But as far as holdover championship matches go, it's fun.

Dominik Mysterio return update

3 of 6
Monday Night RAW

The Rumor

The Dominik Mysterio limbo might end soon. According to Fightful Select (h/t Ortman), WWE has hope that the Intercontinental champion will make his return to action "in the near future."

Reaction

Vague, but it adds up. Mysterio suffered a…mysterious (sorry) shoulder injury during an AAA event near the end of 2025. He's been around, but obviously hasn't had a WWE match since December.

BS Meter: 1

Easiest rumor to buy all week. Were the injury really that serious, WWE probably would have vacated the title. But he beat John Cena for it and a little time out of ring before a big WrestleMania program is a no-brainer of a situation.

Bad Bunny vs. Logan Paul?

4 of 6
WWE Royal Rumble

The Rumor

This one feels inevitable, right? According to Ortman, the likes of Sam Roberts and Andrew Baydala are out in front of the speculation charge when it comes to a Bad Bunny showdown with Logan Paul, possibly at WrestleMania.

Reaction

Speculation or not, this one feels like a layup. Bunny just had the fantastic Super Bowl halftime show and his past showings in WWE were straight-up iconic. Paul threw a little shade at Bunny that seemed very in-character while laying the groundwork for something like this.

BS Meter: 5

This is one of the biggest possible matches WWE could do from an audience-capture standpoint. The entire globe would have interest, like it or not. Still, this one feels like a 50-50 to happen at this year's WrestleMania. One would think the promo for it would have already started. Then again, according to WrestleVotes (h/t Ortman), there's concern within WWE about 'Mania ticket sales…so who knows?

Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi headed for clash?

5 of 6
SmackDown

The Rumor

Oba Femi feels like the super-obvious Lesnar 'Mania opponent, right? According to BodySlam.net (h/t Ortman), that match is now "on the table" behind the scenes.

Reaction

WWE would be straight-up foolish to pass on this. Femi was amazing in the Royal Rumble, has massive fan backing and the company needs to capitalize now. Lesnar is a criminally underrated seller who can make him look amazing before disappearing until the next big event again.

BS Meter: 1

At this point, almost anything else for the two Superstars at 'Mania might disappoint. Some might still want to see Lesnar vs. Gunther. But Femi needs it more and getting a Lesnar match in front of a global audience is a must-have moment. Oh…and it would just be fun

What's going on with Jade Cargill?

6 of 6
SmackDown

The Rumor

WWE fans raising an eyebrow at Jade Cargill might be justified. According to WrestleVotes (h/t Ortman), the company doesn't know what to do with the WWE Women's Championship holder for 'Mania.

Reaction

Well, it certainly shows. Cargill had a little spat with Bayley of note recently. But as of late, she's even been in tag matches. Granted, Liv Morgan was involved, but the purgatory-like booking sticks out.

BS Meter: 1

It's painfully obvious, unfortunately. Not only does WWE need to figure out Cargill, but there's also always an outside chance of something with Bianca Belair. And WWE needs to find a way to fit something like Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky on the card, too. A late-developing story for Cargill could risk feeling like an afterthought.
