Seattle Public Schools Say Seahawks' Super Bowl 60 Parade Won't Be 'Excused' Absence
Public schools in Seattle are not giving students a day off to celebrate the Seattle Seahawks' win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.
Seattle Public Schools chief operations officer Fred Podesta said in a Monday statement that public schools would remain open during Wednesday's victory parade.
According to Podesta, schools will maintain attendance policies and not consider attendance at the parade as an excused attendance.

The celebration in Seattle started with a trophy ceremony at 10 a.m. local time on Wednesday morning at Lumen Field, followed by the parade at 11 a.m.
Philadelphia public schools closed last February as the city celebrated the Eagles' victory in Super Bowl LIX.
Public schools in both Kansas City, Missouri, and Kansas City, Kansas, closed in 2024 after the Chiefs won a second straight championship in Super Bowl LVIII.
Sam Darnold and the Seahawks claimed the franchise's second Super Bowl title, and first since the 2013 season, with a 29-13 win over Drake Maye and the New England Patriots last Sunday.
