Timothy RappMar 10, 2026

Romeo Doubs will be catching passes in a new city in 2026.

The former Green Bay Packers wideout reportedly signed a four-year, $80 million deal with New England Patriots on Tuesday, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Here's how the Patriots' receiver room looks in the wake of Doubs' addition:

Doubs, 25, was drafted by the Packers in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft and has been a solid if unspectacular fixture for the team across four seasons. He set career highs in receptions (49) and touchdowns (eight) in 2023, but the 2025 season (55 catches for a career-high 724 yards and six touchdowns) was arguably his best season yet.

The Packers haven't truly had a game-changer at wide receiver since Davante Adams was traded in 2022, relying on players like Doubs, rookie Matthew Golden, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed. Tight end Tucker Kraft was also having a fantastic 2025 season before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in early November.

Given the team's depth at the position but also a need for a more dynamic No. 1 option, it's fair to suggest that Doubs became expendable. But he's a reliable option who should help bolster New England's passing attack. It may not be the sexiest addition, but Doubs will be a positive contributor for Drake Maye.

Wide receiver was arguably New England's biggest priority this offseason, even before the release of Stefon Diggs. Doubs doesn't give the team a No. 1 option, but he is still an upgrade at the position.
