The New York Giants have reportedly hired former Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan for their quarterbacks coach job, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

Garafolo reported on Tuesday that Callahan was interviewing for the position.

Callahan was a quarterbacks coach with the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders before serving as the Cincinnati Bengals' offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2023 and the Titans' head coach from 2024 to 2025.

In New York, Callahan will coach under new head coach John Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, and he willwork closely with quarterback Jaxson Dart, who is set to enter his second NFL season in 2026.

During his time in Detroit, Callahan had success working with Matthew Stafford, who had a pair of 4,000-yard passing seasons with Callahan as his quarterbacks coach, and led the Lions to the playoffs once during that time.

Callahan also spent one year helping Derek Carr with the Raiders in 2018. While the Raiders went just 4-12, Carr respectably completed 68.9 percent of his passes for 4,049 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

As Cincinnati's OC for five seasons, Callahan helped the Bengals reach the AFC Championship Game twice and the Super Bowl once. Their most successful seasons offensively were 2021 and 2022 when they ranked seventh in scoring each year.

Callahan went on to struggle as head coach of the Titans, though, posting a 3-14 record in 2024, and then getting fired after a 1-5 start in 2025.

Over the six games he lasted as head coach of the Titans in 2025, Callahan got to work with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft in Cam Ward.

While Ward was the first quarterback off the board in that draft, Dart was second, as he went 25th overall to the Giants.

Dart had to deal with some tough circumstances during his rookie year, as head coach Brian Daboll was fired and replaced by Mike Kafka on an interim basis.

Although he only went 4-8 as a starter, Dart's rookie campaign was largely a successful one. He completed 63.7 percent of his passing attempts for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions, and rushed for 487 yards and nine scores en route to a fourth-place finish in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.

While the expectation is that Dart will continue to grow and develop after doing so many good things as a rookie, the fact that he will be playing for his third different head coach in two seasons means nothing is guaranteed.

That is why surrounding him with the most experienced coaching staff possible makes a lot of sense, and the Giants seem to be doing exactly that.

Harbaugh won a Super Bowl and reached the playoffs 12 times during his 18 seasons as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, while Nagy was head coach of the Chicago Bears for four seasons and won two Super Bowls as part of the Kansas City Chiefs' coaching staff.

Few quarterbacks coaches have more high-level coaching experience than Callahan, who has been both an NFL head coach and OC in his own right, which could make him the ideal fit for Dart's development.
