Everything Mike Vrabel Said About Patriots' NFL Super Bowl 60 Loss to Seahawks

Zach BacharFeb 9, 2026

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel discussed his team's 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX on Sunday.

"We couldn't gain any rhythm, field position," Vrabel told reporters after the game. "We've got to get into drives better offensively. Defensively, we've been really good against the run lately and we weren't. We were just playing catch-up. We did a great job in the red zone and we competed, but unfortunately I think the turnovers ultimately costed us. I appreciate the way that the guys, offensively, battled and competed but just not enough consistent execution."

He wasn't interested in singling out any member of his team following the defeat, though.

"We can sit here and try to put it all on one guy," Vrabel explained to reporters. "You'll be disappointed cause that'll never happen. It starts with us as the coaching staff, making sure that we're doing our part. Obviously, we have to be able to execute. We've gotta be able to protect and when we do protect, we have to be able to progress through and throw to guys open and help the quarterback and then he's gotta be better. That's just how it goes."

The Patriots were held scoreless through the first three quarters of Sunday's contest before a late comeback attempt fell short.

New England also committed three turnovers, while quarterback Drake Maye was sacked six times.

Although the Patriots found some momentum on offense later in the fourth quarter and found the end zone twice, Seattle was ultimately able to run out the clock and preserve the victory.

Maye finished 27-of-43 for 295 yards and two touchdowns compared to two interceptions.

As for Vrabel, it's hard to call his first season with the Patriots anything other than a success despite Sunday's loss.

After finishing with a 4-13 record in 2024, New England went 14-3 in 2025 and won the AFC East for the first time since its 2019 campaign. The Patriots then earned hard-fought wins over the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos in the playoffs.

Vrabel was rewarded for his work with Coach of the Year honors.

While his squad fell short of a championship on Sunday, the future is still bright in New England.
