NYU Makes History with 82nd Consecutive Win for D3 Women's Basketball, Who Holds NCAA D1 Record?
The New York University women's basketball team now stands alone in the Division III record books.
The Violets beat Carnegie Mellon 69-58 on Sunday to notch their 82nd win in a row, surpassing the winning streak Washington University of St. Louis enjoyed between 1998-2001.
NYU still has some work to do in order to set the record across the entire NCAA. UConn once went 111 games without a loss.

The Tartans pushed NYU to the brink when the teams first met on Feb. 1 as the Violets held on to win 58-57.
Carnegie Mellon kept it close midway through the fourth quarter in the return matchup, trimming the deficit to five points, 58-53, inside the final five minutes. But NYU denied the upset bid down the stretch.
Senior wing Caroline Peper led the way Sunday with 27 points, while junior Brooke Batchelor finished one rebound short of a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.
The Violets, who rank second nationally in field-goal percentage, weren't at their best offensively. They shot 36.7 percent from the field and were 11-of-31 on three-pointers.
A strong defensive performance helped them improve their record to 20-0. They forced 15 turnovers and held Carnegie Mellon to 3-of-16 shooting from beyond the arc.
NYU has five games left in the regular season and will play six more times if it goes on to lift a third straight national title. That puts the school on pace to break the all-time NCAA record early into the 2026-27 season if the victories keep piling up.
