George Kittle Hopes 'Both Teams Lose' as Seahawks-Patriots Super Bowl Played in 49ers' Stadium

Adam WellsFeb 8, 2026

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle doesn't want to watch another team celebrating a Super Bowl win at his home stadium.

Speaking to NBC Sports Bay Area, Kittle said his hope is "both teams lose" Super Bowl 60 when the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots at Levi's Stadium on Sunday.

Kittle did joke that his wife, Claire, forces him to watch the Super Bowl every year when he's not playing in the game.

It's been a rough couple of weeks for the 49ers star tight end. His season ended due to a torn Achilles suffered in the second quarter of San Francisco's win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card round.

The following week, San Francisco was eliminated from the playoffs with a 41-6 loss to the Seahawks in Seattle. It was the 49ers' worst postseason defeat since a 49-3 loss to the New York Giants in January 1987.

Since Kittle's idea of both teams losing is impossible given the rules of NFL playoff games—it could technically happen if, say, a blackout were to occur and lasted so long the league was unable to resume play—the next best option for him would seemingly be a Patriots win.

The Seahawks play in the same division as the Niners and beat them the last two times they met this season, with the first victory resulting in a celebration because they clinched the NFC West and No. 1 seed in the postseason.

Seahawks rookie Nick Emmanwori even dismissed the 49ers after the divisional round, declaring on social media there "ain't no rivalry" between the two teams.

By comparison, the Patriots don't really have any beef or much history with the 49ers. They did play early in the 2024 season, a 30-13 win by San Francisco, but that was when Jacoby Brissett was still the starting quarterback for New England.
