Lindsey Vonn Claps Back After Speculation on Knee Injury Before Olympics, 'lol thanks doc'

Scott PolacekFeb 6, 2026

"Just because it seems impossible to you doesn't mean it's not possible."

That is what skier Lindsey Vonn said in response to a sports medicine doctor on social media who speculated whether she suffered a "fresh ACL tear like everyone is thinking" ahead of the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.

Vonn explained "my ACL was fully functioning until last Friday" and is "100% ruptured. Not 80% or 50%. It's 100% gone."

The 41-year-old previously revealed she "completely ruptured" her ACL in a Jan. 30 crash in a downhill race at a World Cup competition.

However, she decided she would still complete in the Games and passed a major test Friday when she completed her downhill training run ahead of the competition:

Regardless of what happens in the 2026 Games, Vonn is already a skiing legend. And she has plenty of accomplishments in the Olympics, as these will be her fifth Games after previously competing in Salt Lake City in 2002, Turin in 2006, Vancouver in 2010 and PyeongChang in 2018.

Vonn won the gold in downhill and the bronze in Super G in Vancouver and then captured the bronze in downhill in PyeongChang.

She will once again go for a medal this year in Italy when she participates in the downhill competition scheduled for Sunday at 5:30 a.m. ET.
