New Eagles Rumors on Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson After Jeff Stoutland's Exit as OL Coach

Mike ChiariFeb 6, 2026

Two key members of the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive line reportedly could consider retirement this offseason.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane on the Uncovering the Birds podcast (h/t Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith), neither offensive tackle Lane Johnson nor guard Landon Dickerson are guaranteed to return in 2026.

The news comes after longtime Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland announced Wednesday that he is departing the organization after 13 seasons on the job.

Per McLane, Johnson is "not sure if he's coming back or not." Although McLane's best guess is that Johnson will return for one more season, he noted that Stoutland's departure might make it "a little less likely."

As for Dickerson, he "may be even more of a question mark" than Johnson, according to McLane.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo seconded McLane's report on Dickerson, noting that he is "no certainty to return" because "his body has been through a lot."

The 35-year-old Johnson was originally selected fourth overall by the Eagles in the 2013 NFL draft, and he has spent his entire 13-year NFL career in Philly.

A six-time Pro Bowler, two-time First Team All-Pro and two-time Super Bowl champion, Johnson has been among the best right tackles in the league for the vast majority of his career.

However, injuries have started to take a toll, and he was limited to just 10 games in 2025 due to a Lisfranc injury in his foot.

While it isn't uncommon for a 35-year-old to retire, Dickerson walking away from football at the age of 27 would raise some eyebrows.

A 2021 second-round pick out of Alabama, Dickerson earned three consecutive Pro Bowl nods from 2022 to 2024, and helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl at the conclusion of the 2024 campaign.

Although Dickerson has never missed more than three games in a season and missed only two games in 2025, he was slowed by knee and ankle injuries this past season.

The Eagles already lost starting right guard Mekhi Becton from the 2024 team in free agency, and longtime center Jason Kelce retired after the 2023 campaign.

If both Johnson and Dickerson retire this offseason, left tackle Jordan Mailata will be the lone holdover from 2023 in terms of starting offensive linemen.
