McDaniels, who was hired to Mike Vrabel's staff ahead of the 2025 campaign, led the Patriots to a tremendous year on offense. They had the third-most yards per game (379.4) and the second-most points per game (28.8).
Second-year quarterback Drake Maye put together an MVP-caliber year with McDaniels as his offensive coordinator, posting the fourth-most passing yards (4,394) and the third-most touchdowns (31) while throwing eight interceptions. He added 450 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.
Behind McDaniels' outstanding offense, the Patriots finished the year 14-3 after going 4-13 in each of the last two seasons. New England then downed the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos on the way to its first Super Bowl since 2018.
While it's McDaniels' first year back with the Patriots, he's spent much of his career with the organization. He got his first NFL job with New England in 2001 and became offensive coordinator in 2006. He held that position until 2009 before spending a few years away from the team. McDaniels returned as offensive coordinator in 2012 and remained with the team until 2021.
McDaniels' first two stints netted six Super Bowls for the Patriots, three of which came when he was offensive coordinator. Now back in New England, McDaniels is hoping to make winning championships the standard once again.
He and the Patriots will battle the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday as they look to win their first Super Bowl in the post-Tom Brady and Bill Belichick era.
