The only other regular-season contest that Dallas has played outside the United States was a 31-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London during its 2014 campaign (h/t Nick Eatman of the team's official website).
The 2026 game will be played at Maracanã Stadium, which has a capacity of 78,838 (via Eatman).
Brazil has already hosted two NFL games, as the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers by the final score of 34-29 in 2024 at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo. The same venue hosted the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 of the 2025 season, as Los Angeles emerged with a 27-21 win.
Dallas will now head to Brazil as part of a recent commitment by the NFL to play three regular-season games over five years in Rio de Janeiro starting in 2026.
The Cowboys are looking to improve upon a 7-9-1 record in 2025, missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
Dak Prescott's play was a silver lining for Dallas, as he completed 67.3 percent of his throws for 4,552 yards and 30 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions. His 70.3 QBR ranked No. 5 among 28 qualified quarterbacks, via ESPN.
While the Cowboys' upcoming international opponent is still to be determined, they're set to travel to Brazil next season.
