Rob Gronkowski Responds to Tom Brady's Viral Comments on Patriots vs. Seahawks in Video

Julia StumbaughFeb 4, 2026

Rob Gronkowski joked Wednesday that his former teammate Tom Brady might not be rooting for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX because he wishes it was him taking snaps in place of Drake Maye.

"I don't know. I'm not Tom. I haven't talked to him yet, since the Patriots were in the Super Bowl," Gronkowski said when asked by Kay Adams on the Up & Adams Show why Brady might not be backing the Patriots.

Gronkowski continued, "Because he probably wants to be the quarterback. He's that competitive. He probably wants to be the guy in the Super Bowl right now."

Gronkowski's comments come the day after Brady told Jim Gray in a Tuesday episode of the Let's Go! podcast that he didn't "have a dog in the fight" between the Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

"May the best team win," Brady told Gray.

Brady won six Super Bowls with the Patriots earlier in his playing career before spending the last two seasons as a broadcaster for Fox Sports.

He told Gray that during that span he's watched "maybe" 15 plays by Maye during the quarterback's two-year career with the Patriots.

"I just have not seen the Patriots play much at all. I've been working on Sundays," Brady said. "My time and energy is focused on the teams that I'm covering."

Gronkowski, on the other hand, said there's no question who he's rooting for between his former team and the Seahawks.

"I'm rooting for the Patriots," Gronkowski told Adams. "What's great about the Patriots being in the Super Bowl is that it shows, and it's bringing back just how dominant the Patriots are.

"And there's a lot of fans out there that are mad that the Patriots are back in the Super Bowl, which is great for us, because that brings back they're mad because of how many times we won."

Brady won't be in the booth for the NBC broadcast of Super Bowl LX this Sunday. Both he and Gronkowski, however, have confirmed they will be in attendance when the championship game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET in Santa Clara.
