New Artemi Panarin Trade Rumors Reveal Rangers Star's Preferred Landing Spots Amid Contract Buzz

Zach BacharFeb 3, 2026

New York Rangers star winger Artemi Panarin is reportedly considering multiple potential destinations on the trade market.

According to Vincent Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic, the Florida Panthers are believed to be Panarin's "preferred destination" while the Tampa Bay Lightning also have an "advantage" for him.

The Carolina Hurricanes, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks and Washington Capitals are also "believed to have been involved" in the pursuit of Panarin, per Mercogliano.

Mercogliano also noted that if Panarin "warms up to the rental idea" for his next team, it would create a "clearer path" towards either the Panthers or Lightning.

The 34-year-old has a no-move clause in his contract, allowing him to have control over his landing spot in a trade. He hasn't suited up for the Rangers since Jan. 26, as he's been held out due to asset management.

Panarin has recorded 19 goals and 38 assists in 52 games during his 2025-26 campaign.

The Rangers could look to get a deal done before the NHL's Olympic roster freeze, which begins on Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET and runs through Feb. 23.
