Broncos, Davis Webb Agree to Contract as OC for Sean Payton, Bo Nix After NFL HC Rumors

The Denver Broncos announced Monday that they are promoting passing game coordinator Davis Webb to offensive coordinator.

He'll replace the fired Joe Lombardi and Logan Kilgore will be promoted to quarterbacks coach, Webb's former role.

Webb, 31, was a popular name in head-coaching searches this cycle, interviewing with three different teams, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, and also received interest in various offensive coordinator openings. That made him a pretty natural candidate for promotion in Denver.

"I think Davis is a tremendous coach," quarterback Bo Nix said Wednesday. "He understands the role of being a coach. He understands the role of teaching. He really knows how to communicate with your players, with me. He's helped me in two years just consolidate, make things simple, and just keep the main thing the main thing. Taking a lot of information, a lot of knowledge, and been able to just roll right into it. I think highly of him. I know he's a really good football coach."

The Broncos finished the 2025 season with a 14-3 record and earned the top seed, but Nix's injury in the Divisional Round left them shorthanded against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. In poor weather, backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham and the offense were virtual no-shows in the 10-7 loss.

Head coach Sean Payton seemed to hint that a change at offensive coordinator was possible after criticizing the offensive output from that game.

"We didn't score enough points and capitalize on that field position," he told reporters in the aftermath. "Starts with the head coach and rest of our staff."

"[I'm] hurting for every one of those players in that locker room," he added. "There'll be a number of things when we watch the tape and I'll look at and critique and pay close attention to. ... It was a hard-fought game, and we didn't do enough to win it."

Now Webb will be tasked with helping the Broncos take that next step.
