NFL Training Camp: Latest News and Notes from August 3
The opening of training camps around the league signals that the season is quickly approaching, and teams will be back to playing games in just a few weeks. Those going through football withdrawal since the Super Bowl can finally settle down and get ready for some action.
Sunday's slate of football brought us Dez Bryant's fight with cornerback Tyler Patmon, according to SI.com. Although there were no recorded fistfights featuring $70 million wide receivers on Monday, another NFC East wideout was making noise.
DeSean Jackson of the Washington Redskins issued a challenge to every cornerback in the league, per ESPN.

Jackson had 1,169 yards and six touchdowns in his first season with the Redskins and will look to build on those numbers this season. Jackson will face Darrelle Revis and the Jets in New York on Oct. 18 and will have to back up his words against the shutdown cornerback.
The news in that division didn't stop there, however.
Another NFC East team is making news for reconnecting with its injured star.
The New York Giants have reportedly touched base with defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul following his injury that resulted in the amputation of his right index finger.

"The Giants had no contact at all with Pierre-Paul from his Fourth of July fireworks injury into the beginning of August, but on Sunday, Giants general manager Jerry Reese finally talked to Pierre-Paul, Giants owner John Mara said today on 660 AM in New York," Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk wrote.

Heading just south to the "City of Brotherly Love," the man at the helm in Philadelphia finally spoke out a bit.
With yet another former player taking a shot at him, Eagles head coach Chip Kelly shared his feelings on the obsession with his personal life and motivations.
"I just think it's bizarre," Kelly said, according to Albert Breer of NFL.com. "I just coach football. That's what it's all about. Why people want to know about that other part, I don't know."

Kelly has been the subject of comments from players in the past, with the latest coming from Brandon Boykin, who told Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia's Derrick Gunn (h/t Geoff Mosher of the same site) that Kelly is "uncomfortable around grown men of our culture." Boykin joins fellow former Eagles like LeSean McCoy and Tra Thomas in suggesting Kelly has issues with black players and that racism fuels his moves.
Shifting away from controversy and moving toward injury news, Chicago Bears first-round draft pick Kevin White is still sidelined at training camp due to a shin injury.
"I think he's making headway," head coach John Fox said, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune. "Like I said, he was on the shelf for six weeks, just his conditioning level and even soft tissue—just building him back to get the chance to come and play football rather than just throwing him out there."
When he does hit the field, White is expected to do big things for the Bears this season. The former college standout will be stepping into Brandon Marshall's spot and playing alongside Alshon Jeffery.

The Green Bay Packers were missing a familiar sight at practice Monday, as linebacker Clay Matthews sat out with "knee soreness" and does not have a timetable for his return, according to Jason Wilde of ESPNWisconsin.com.
Matthews played all 16 games for Green Bay last season for the second time in his career.
In some more joyful news, the St. Louis Rams got one step closer to a stadium Monday, per Jason La Canfora of CBS.
The Edward Jones Dome opened in 1995 and is regarded as one of the loudest NFL stadiums.
Rachel Nichols of CNN Sports disagrees with the judge's ruling, however.
At the end of the day, is getting a new NFL stadium more exciting than riding in a golf cart?
Indianapolis Colts tight end Coby Fleener would probably say no since he clearly loves them.
