Australian Open 2026 Updated Prize Money Payouts for Melbourne Bracket
Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam with his victory over Novak Djokovic at the 2026 Australian Open.
Alcaraz took home the $4.1 million winners' purse with his four-set triumph over the winningest man in Grand Slam history.
Djokovic, who came short of winning his 11th title in Melbourne, earned $2.15 million as the tournament runner-up.
Alcaraz entered Melbourne with multiple victories at each of the other three majors. He had never made it past the quarterfinals down under prior to his triumph this year.
The top-seeded Spaniard had to battle through his final two matches to complete the career Grand Slam at age 22.
Alcaraz fought through cramping in a five-set epic against No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev in the semifinals. He then battled through four sets to take down Djokovic in the final.
The 22-year-old has now won three of the last four majors. He was triumphant at the French and U.S. Opens in 2025 and was a finalist at Wimbledon.
Sunday's victory should only be the start of an incredible year for the Spaniard, who will be favored to win at least one more major in 2026.
Djokovic's had the most success in Australia in his career of the four majors, so you could understand if he felt like this was his best chance to earn his record-setting 25th major title.
Djokovic was a semifinalist at all four majors in 2025, but he's only advanced to two major finals since the start of the 2023 season.
The last nine Grand Slam tournaments have either been won by Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner, who played in all four major title matches last season.
We should expect to see more of the Sinner-Alcaraz dominance at the top of the men's game until someone proves he can match their level, or an incredible upset happens at one of the season's other three majors.
