Declan Doyle, Ravens Reportedly Agree to Contract as OC for Lamar Jackson on Jesse Minter's Staff

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Doyle, who turns 30 on March 6, spent one season with the Bears under first-year head coach Ben Johnson, who called offensive plays in Chicago.
The Bears enjoyed great success in year one, going 11-6, winning the NFC North and earning the team's first playoff victory since the 2010 season.
Now Doyle moves onto the Ravens and an exciting opportunity to coach quarterback and two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
The Ravens' offense had its fair share of hiccups last year and finished 11th in scoring overall. Jackson was out for four games due to injury, and that certainly led to some issues. However, the Ravens also underperformed a bit after finishing fourth and third in scoring in 2023 and 2024.
Of note, the Ravens sometimes went away from star running back Derrick Henry (1745 total yards, 16 touchdowns) at times, and Baltimore had issues getting much production through the air from its pass-catchers outside wide receiver Zay Flowers (86 catches, 1,211 yards, five TD). Tight end Mark Andrews was next on the team with 48 catches and 422 yards, and no other Raven topped more than 27 catches or 330 yards.
Baltimore ultimately finished a disappointing 8-9, and the Ravens parted ways with head coach John Harbaugh after 18 mostly successful seasons that included a Super Bowl win and 12 playoff appearances.
Now the Ravens are under new leadership with Minter, who was the Los Angeles Chargers' defensive coordinator in 2024 and 2025. L.A. allowed the fewest points per game in 2024 and ended ninth in that category in 2025.
Minter notably worked under John's brother, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh. He also worked on the Ravens' defensive coaching staff from 2017-2020 under John Harbaugh.
Minter said he's calling defensive plays in Baltimore, so the table is set for Doyle to truly own the offense and make it his own. He didn't get that chance in Chicago with Johnson taking the lead, although he certainly had a hand in the team's tremendous success.
We'll see what Doyle does soon enough, but this is a great opportunity for the young coach as he joins a promising team with a great quarterback looking to bounce back from a tough year.
