Jon Gruden Calls Out 'Stupid Rumors' After He Was Linked to Job on with Jets, Aaron Glenn
Former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden shut down a report that the New York Jets recently contacted him about a potential job on Aaron Glenn's staff.
Gruden was asked Thursday whether the Jets had offered him a job in an appearance on Tampa Bay radio station 95.3 WDAE.
"There's a lot of reports we're not going to get into. As you know, there's a lot of stupid rumors out there," Gruden answered. "Some of these reports are ridiculous. Let's just say there was never anything from the Jets, and I wish them well in their search for a new offensive coordinator."

The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt reported Tuesday that the Jets had "reached out to Jon Gruden about the idea of joining Aaron Glenn's staff," and that "Gruden wasn't interested in the job."
According to Rosenblatt, the Jets' overture took place while Glenn was looking for "various veteran offensive coaches" who could take over play-calling duties for offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand.
Engstrand has since been dismissed by the Jets, who have since completed interviews with at least five OC candidates including Frank Reich and Greg Roman.
Gruden last coached in the NFL in 2021 before resigning from his position with the Raiders in Week 5.
He has since served as a consultant with the New Orleans Saints and an advisor with the European League of Football's Milano Seamen before signing a multi-year deal with Barstool Sports in November 2024.
