Patriots' Drake Maye Updates Shoulder Injury Status Ahead of NFL Super Bowl 60 vs. Seahawks
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye provided an update on his shoulder injury while preparing to face the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX.
"I'm feeling good," Maye told reporters Thursday. "Got out there, moving around a good bit today and was able to do some jog through, so feeling good and looking forward to be ready to go. This is the game you dream of playing in, so looking forward to getting out there and getting a chance to play in the Super Bowl."
He also wasn't surprised regarding the buzz surrounding his shoulder.
"Surprised? No. I wouldn't say surprised," Maye said, per Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald. "It's the right shoulder of a starting quarterback on an NFL team."
Maye was listed as a limited participant on New England's Wednesday practice report due to the shoulder issue.
He suited up for Thursday's session, although MassLive's Mark Daniels noted that he didn't throw a pass during the portion of practice open to the media.
Maye didn't anticipate his shoulder affecting his performance against Seattle, though.
"No, I don't think so," Maye said, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "That's why you spend time, that's why you have trainers. I think it's just been one of those things where it's a long season, sometimes things show up, and I'm going to do whatever I can to feel 100 percent. I'm sure I'll get, if not there, then as close as you can — 99 [percent], or do whatever I can to make sure I'm throwing and do whatever I can to help the team win."
Maye has been durable throughout his budding career, as he started all 17 regular-season games in 2025.
He completed 72.0 percent of his passes for 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns, getting picked off just eight times. Maye also averaged 8.9 yards per attempt.
The 23-year-old made plays with his legs as well, rushing for 450 yards and finding the end zone four times on the ground.
Maye was named to the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive year and was selected as an MVP finalist.
He has a tough task ahead of him, as Seattle ended the regular season with the No. 1 scoring defense in the NFL by allowing a mere 17.2 points per game. The Seahawks also boast an imposing secondary that includes Devon Witherspoon, Nick Emmanwori and Riq Woolen.
Kickoff for Super Bowl LX is on Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
