Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Goedert's deal will be worth $7 million, according to ESPN's Tim McManus. ESPN's Adam Schefter (via McManus) reported the deal includes a $4.25 million signing bonus.
As Garafolo noted, this deal comes as wideout A.J. Brown has been involved in trade rumors.
This agreement comes after the two sides pushed back the void date in Goedert's contract twice to allow for continued talks. Dianna Russini of The Athletic noted Philadelphia would have faced more than $20 million in dead money had the team released the veteran.
According to Over The Cap, the Eagles had $28.4 million in cap space prior to the agreement.
A return to Philly comes as a slight surprise. Last offseason, there were rumors that the Eagles might consider trading Goedert, though he ultimately returned to the team on a reworked contract.
It proved to be a great move for both sides. Goedert, 31, had a fantastic season for the Birds, setting a career-high in touchdown receptions (11), shattering his previous career high of five touchdowns in 2019. While the Kevin Patullo era at offensive coordinator proved to be a regrettable, he did utilize Goedert to great effect as a red-zone weapon.
Goedert added 60 overall receptions for 591 yards.
But with the Eagles facing another salary crunch this offseason, it always seemed possible that Goedert would depart in free agency, where he might land a bigger payday. The Eagles have plenty of weapons on offense and were potentially equipped to absorb his loss, though it would have created a hole at tight end.
Instead, the two sides found common ground, keeping one of the team's long-time weapons in place as the Eagles look to rebound from a disappointing 2025 season.
