Chase Brown Discusses Bengals Contract Extension Talks, 'I Don't Want to Go Anywhere Else'

Julia StumbaughJan 28, 2026

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown is hoping to sign an extension this offseason, he told ESPN's Ben Baby.

"I would love to do something and be a part of this team. I don't want to go anywhere else," Brown told Baby.

Brown continued, "I think if you look back in the past, too, guys like Tee [Higgins] and Ja'Marr [Chase], they had to wait, and then they kept on getting better, and they got really expensive."

"I let my agent handle a lot of that, but I know they've been working hard. And they've been in communication, so that's all I can really say right now."

Brown is currently set to play the 2026 season on the final year of his rookie contract, which has an estimated base salary of $3.7 million, per Spotrac.

He would then hit unrestricted free agency ahead of his age-27 season in 2027.

Brown's apparent push for a new contract comes after he posted a career-high 1,019 rushing yards in 17 games for the Bengals last season.

The Bengals are just one year removed from signing their two top receivers, Chase and Higgins, to four-year extensions.

Chase and the Bengals had been discussing a new deal since at least before the start of the 2024 regular season, but ultimately didn't agree to a contract until after the 2025 campaign.

By then, Chase had racked up more than 3,000 receiving yards across two Pro Bowl seasons. His $40.25 AAV contract ultimately set a record for the most ever received by a non-quarterback.

The Bengals could theoretically hope to pay less for Brown this offseason than they would if he takes another step forward in 2026.

A new deal for Chase could further constrict Cincinnati's future cap around the top of the team's offense. The franchise has already committed more than $115 million in 2027 salary to Higgins, Chase and star quarterback Joe Burrow, which is projected to take up more than a third of the 2027 cap barring any contract renegotiations, per Spotrac.

The Bengals may need to decide this offseason whether tying up more of their future cap could be worth potentially avoiding a repeat of the Chase negotiations in 2027.
