Australian Open 2026 Results, Wednesday's Bracket Winners, Losers and Highlights
Jannik Sinner extended his domination of the Australian Open to Wednesday's quarterfinals.
Sinner knocked out American Ben Shelton in straight sets to continue his quest to win three straight titles in Melbourne.
The lone remaining American in either singles bracket is Jessica Pegula, who picked up her fifth straight two-set victory on Wednesday.
Pegula will go head-to-head with Elena Rybakina for a spot in the final.
Sinner meets Novak Djokovic in the semifinal round. Djokovic advanced to the final four due to an injury retirement by Lorenzo Musetti.

No. 2 Jannik Sinner def. No. 8 Ben Shelton, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4
No. 4 Novak Djokovic def. No. 5 Lorenzo Musetti, 4-6, 3-6, 3-1 (retired)
Jannik Sinner continued his tear through the men's singles bracket with a straight-set win over Ben Shelton.
Sinner, the two-time reigning champion in Melbourne, turned away any threats posed by the last remaining American man in the bracket.
Sinner's lost a single set this year in Melbourne. A year ago, he only fell in two sets on his way to the title.
The next two matches will be the hardest for the Italian, as he faces Novak Djokovic and then either Carlos Alcaraz or Alexander Zverev.
Djokovic advanced to the semifinals in a rare way on Wednesday. The No. 4 seed fell behind by two sets to No. 5 seed Lorenzo Musetti, but the Italian was forced to retire from the match due to an injury in the third set.
Djokovic admitted after the match that Musetti was the better player on the day.
The 10-time Australian Open champion is still alive in the tournament. He'll have to likely beat Sinner and Alcaraz to claim his record 25th Grand Slam title.
Women's Singles
2 of 2
No. 5 Elena Rybakina def. No. 2 Iga Swiatek, 7-5, 6-1
No. 6 Jessica Pegula def. No. 4 Amanda Anisimova, 6-2, 7-6 (1)
Jessica Pegula won the battle of American players for the second straight round.
The No. 6 seed took down No. 4 seed Amanda Anisimova in straight sets, two days after she beat reigning champion Madison Keys in two sets.
Pegula dominated in her five matches in Melbourne. She's won eight sets by three or more games.
Next up for Pegula is a semifinal showdown with No. 5 seed Elena Rybakina, who knocked out No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek.
Rybakina has been equally as dominant in Melbourne with no set defeats and seven set victories of three games or more.
Thursday's semifinal marks just the second time Rybakina will play in the final four in Melbourne. Pegula will be playing in her second-ever Grand Slam semifinal.
