Australian Open 2026 Results, Tuesday's Bracket Winners, Losers and Highlights
The trend of the top players steamrolling through their competition extended into the first day of quarterfinal play at the 2026 Australian Open.
Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka each won in commanding straight-set fashion to book their spots in the semifinals.
Alcaraz will go up against No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev in the final four. Zverev was the only singles winner on Tuesday who dropped a set.
Sabalenka faces a showdown with No. 12 seed Elina Svitolina, who looked fantastic in her straight-set win over No. 3 seed Coco Gauff.

No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz def. No. 6 Alex De Minaur, 7-5, 6-2, 6-1
No. 3 Alexander Zverev def. No. 25 Learner Tien, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-1, 7-6 (3)
Carlos Alcaraz wasted little time in his three-set triumph over Alex De Minaur.
The Australian gave Alcaraz a bit of a fight in the opening set, but then the top seed cruised, as he lost just three games in the second and third sets.
The win gave Alcaraz his first semifinal berth at the Australian Open. He's two wins away from securing the career Grand Slam at the age of 22.
Alcaraz will be favored against No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev in the semifinals.
Zverev, now a four-time semifinalist in Australia, needed four sets to eliminate American Learner Tien.
Zverev is a three-time Grand Slam finalist in his own right. He plays best on the hard courts, but it'll be difficult to slow Alcaraz down in the form that he is in.

No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka def. No. 29 Iva Jovic, 6-3, 6-0
No. 12 Elina Svitolina def. No. 3 Coco Gauff, 6-1, 6-2
Aryna Sabalenka moved one win away from reaching her fourth straight Australian Open final on Tuesday.
The women's top seed only lost three games in her quarterfinal bout with No. 29 Iva Jovic, a first-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist.
Sabalenka hasn't lost a set in Australia this year and she's lost just three sets over the last two Australian Opens.
Sabalenka goes up against No. 12 seed Elina Svitolina in the semifinals. Svitolina breezed past No. 3 seed Coco Gauff on Tuesday.
The straight-set victory gave Svitolina her first semifinal berth at the Australian Open.
Svitolina is 0-3 in Grand Slam semifinals in her career. She'll need a performance similar to the one she put on on Tuesday night to even challenge Sabalenka for a spot in the final.
