Seahawks' Riq Woolen Allows Rams TD After Taunting Penalty, Has Heated Sideline Exchange on Video
Seattle Seahawks defensive back Tariq Woolen had a brutal sequence against the Los Angeles Rams during the third quarter of Sunday's NFC Championship Game.
First, he dropped a potential interception, though it was a third-down stop for Seattle's defense. But Woolen was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for taunting the Rams' sideline, giving L.A. an automatic first down. On the very next play he was torched deep on a Puka Nacua touchdown.
His teammates were not happy with him following the sequence:
Folks on social media also had thoughts on the matter, and they were about what you would expect after Woolen singlehandedly gave the Rams six points:
The Seahawks still held a 31-27 lead after the Rams' touchdown, but they would have had an 11-point lead with the ball had Woolen avoided his series of catastrophic moments.
Fortunately for Woolen, Seattle held on to win the game to advance to the Super Bowl.
The Seahawks will now face the New England Patriots at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Feb. 8.
