Bo Nix's Updated Injury Timeline to Return Reported After Surgery amid Broncos' Super Bowl Push
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix will not be making a stunning comeback for the Super Bowl should his team advance with a victory over the New England Patriots.
In fact, he reportedly will not be cleared for any activity for approximately three months.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Nix underwent surgery for the fractured right ankle he suffered during Denver's victory over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round and will not be able to return to activity for 12 weeks. What's more, he will not be able to put any weight on his ankle for at least four weeks.

"This eliminates any notion, far-fetched as it was, that Nix could somehow pull a miraculous return for the Feb. 8 Super Bowl LX in the event that Denver does advance," Schefter wrote.
While not being able to play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game and a potential Super Bowl is quite the setback for Nix, the timeline at least means he is expected to be cleared for the team's offseason program.
That should put him in line to be under center at the start of the 2026 campaign.
"This marks the third time that Nix has broken his ankle playing football, but this break was in a different spot and doctors have told him that the injury is 'nothing to be concerned about long term,'" Schefter reported.
Nix completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 3,931 yards, 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in his second season while leading the Broncos to a 14-3 record and the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
That home-field advantage he helped the team earn could be critical, as the fans will look to make a difference Sunday when Denver turns to backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line.
Stidham has made just four starts in his entire career and is 1-3 in those games with the most recent coming during the 2023 campaign. He has not attempted a single regular-season pass in the last two years and will be under the brightest of spotlights Sunday.
"Stiddy is ready to go," Broncos head coach Sean Payton told reporters. "... He's ready, he's ready. I feel like I've got a two who's capable of starting for a number of teams, and I know he feels the same way. Watch out, just watch."
The defense and supporting cast will surely have to play well against Drake Maye and the Patriots if the Broncos are going to advance without Nix, but the head coach is confident in his backup quarterback.
As for Nix, Schefter noted he will be watching in a box and off his feet as his recovery process begins in earnest.
