Tyreek Hill's Dolphins Future Discussed in Latest NFL Rumors Amid Injury Rehab
The Miami Dolphins will "almost assuredly" release wide receiver Tyreek Hill before March 13, Barry Jackson wrote Friday for the Miami Herald.
Without renegotiating his current contract, Hill is set to play next season under a $51.9 million cap hit, per Spotrac.
None of that money is locked in until March 13, when Hill is set to receive $11 million in guaranteed salary alongside a $5 million roster bonus, according to Spotrac.

Cutting Hill before June 1 would cost the Dolphins about $28.2 million in dead cap ($22.9 million in savings), as opposed to a post-June 1 cut that would cost $15.9 million in dead cap with $35.3 million in savings, per Over the Cap.
Jackson wrote Friday, however, that the Dolphins likely need to cut Hill in order to be cap compliant by the first day of the new league year.
He also noted that the Dolphins are likely to use their two post-June 1 cuts on other players.
Other candidates for June 1 cuts in Miami include quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and edge rusher Bradley Chubb.
Should the Dolphins ultimately decide to part ways with Tagovailoa, who was benched for rookie signal caller Quinn Ewers at the end of last season, the team would likely prefer to trade him.
Given the size of Tagovailoa's contract, there's a chance the franchise could ultimately use one of its post-June 1 cuts instead in order to split his dead cap hit over multiple seasons.
Questions regarding Hill's future with the Dolphins come amid the wide receiver's 2025 ended with a serious left knee injury involving multiple torn ligaments in Week 4.
Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter in September that the wide receiver's surgery had been successful and that he would play next season.
According to Rosenhaus, Hill's goal is to return for Week 1 of the 2026 season.
In that case, the Dolphins could theoretically renegotiate his contract in order to bring the wide receiver back under a more palatable contract.
After firing former head coach Mike McDaniel and bringing in Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, and with the lingering questions surrounding Tagovailoa's future with the team, the Dolphins might ultimately take another step toward a fresh start by parting ways with Hill ahead of the 2026 season.
In that case, another team could decide to take a chance on Hill on a more affordable free agent contract despite his dip in production in 2024 and his ongoing injury recovery this offseason.
