Patriots' Boutte Says Broncos Fans Can Enjoy 'Cancun' After Sean Payton's Bold Comment
It's safe to say Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton's comments ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game have made the rounds in the New England Patriots' locker room.
Payton turned heads this week when he told reporters Broncos fans were "going to have plenty of rest after this one. Two weeks."
It was a call for fans to exert as much energy as possible during Sunday's game because the Super Bowl isn't for another two weeks. However, Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte pointed out Thursday that those fans can rest in Cancun if the Broncos lose, while head coach Mike Vrabel had less of a bulletin-board response:

Biggest Questions Surrounding 2026 NFL Season After the Draft 🤔
Payton has made a point during these playoffs of explaining to fans they need to be consistently loud when the other team has the ball, including when the opponents are in the huddle.
"This is a team at the line of scrimmage that does a lot," he said. "Josh [McDaniels] is fantastic at putting together good plans offensively. There are alerts, there are kills, there's all… Look, let's go. Right when the… I keep emphasizing, just as the huddle begins until the ball is snapped."
While his primary point was to inspire Denver fans to make noise, the "two weeks" part clearly caught the Patriots' attention.
But Vrabel's comments are also notable.
A trip to the Super Bowl will be on the line when both teams take the field Sunday, and that should be plenty motivating enough for the Patriots regardless of what Payton said during his media availability.
Those comments will be a minor footnote once the game actually kicks off, especially since New England is looking to return to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2018 campaign while Denver is looking to reach the sport's biggest stage for the first time since the 2015 season.
As for Boutte, he has played well for the Patriots throughout the playoffs.
He posted four catches for 66 yards in the Wild Card Round win over the Los Angeles Chargers and followed that with three catches for 75 yards and a touchdown in the Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans.
Another similar performance against a Denver squad that is starting backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham with Bo Nix sidelined may just be enough to send the Broncos and their fans to Cancun.
