Who Got Snubbed from 2026 Baseball Hall of Fame Inductees?

Andrew PetersJan 20, 2026

The 2026 Baseball Hall of Fame inductees were announced on Tuesday and like every year, there were a handful of players absent that could be considered snubs.

This year's Hall of Fame class wasn't exactly the strongest, but it still had a handful of great players. Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones were the only members elected this year.

One player who perhaps got snubbed this year was Chase Utley. The former Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman has had some momentum recently, polling at 67.9 percent on public ballots, per ESPN's David Schoenfield.

Utley finished his career with 249 home runs, 1,025 RBI and 64.6 WAR. While the six-time All-Star and World Series champ missed out this year, it won't be surprising to see him get a Hall of Fame nod in the coming years.

Cole Hamels also made a strong case to enter the Hall of Fame this year. The World Series MVP for the Phillies in 2008 was on the ballot for the first time, though, so he may need another year or two to secure a spot.

Unlike many of the pitchers in the Hall of Fame, Hamels didn't rack up innings and wins, which may have contributed to why he didn't make it this year. As more pitchers from his generation get placed on the ballot, it's likely voters will change their criteria for what earns a spot in the Hall.

Two more pitchers that likely just missed the cut include Andy Pettitte and Mark Buehrle. Pettitte went 256-153 and had 60.7 WAR and a 3.85 career ERA. Buehrle has a career record of 214-160 with 60.0 WAR and a 3.81 ERA.

Had it not been for injuries, Dustin Pedroia would almost certainly already be in the Hall of Fame. He finished his career with 140 home runs and 725 RBI, leading the Red Sox to a pair of World Series and winning AL MVP in 2008.

It wasn't in the cards for him this year, but he could one day head to Cooperstown.
