Andrew PetersJan 19, 2026

Another head coaching candidate reportedly is off the board.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Miami Dolphins have hired former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to be their next head coach.

With Hafley off the board, here's a look at some of the top remaining candidates for the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans.

Baltimore Ravens

  • Anthony Weaver, DC, Miami Dolphins
  • Matt Nagy, former OC, Kansas City Chiefs

Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Brian Flores, DC, Minnesota Vikings
  • Anthony Weaver, DC, Miami Dolphins
  • Chris Shula, DC, Los Angeles Rams
  • Nathan Scheelhaase, Pass Game Coordinator, Los Angeles Rams

Las Vegas Raiders

  • Ejiro Evero, DC, Carolina Panthers
  • Klint Kubiak, OC, Seattle Seahawks

Tennessee Titans

  • Robert Saleh, DC, San Francisco 49ers
  • Matt Nagy, former OC, Kansas City Chiefs

Weaver has been in the mix for a handful of head coaching gigs over the last few years, but 2026 could be the year he finally earns that designation. The 45-year-old has ties to the Ravens, as he was Baltimore's defensive line coach and run game coordinator in 2021 and served as assistant head coach along with defensive line coach from 2022 to 2023.

Weaver will have his second interview with the Ravens on Tuesday, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Nagy has likewise been in the mix to return to a head coaching role over the past few years after tremendous success in Kansas City. He interviewed with the Ravens last week after they fired John Harbaugh.

The Steelers' coaching search is in full swing a week after Tomlin's departure.

According to The Athletic's Mike DeFabo, the team is set to hold in-person interviews with both Flores and Weaver. DeFabo added that Flores has already had informal conversations with Pittsburgh.

Flores, who has been with the Vikings since 2023, served as a senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach for the Steelers in 2022.

Scheelhaase was the Steelers' first known head coach interview request, per Schefter, so clearly the team is high on him.

As for Shula, who is a game away from reaching the Super Bowl, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported on The Herd that the Steelers "really like" him (h/t Steelers Depot's Jake Brockhoff).

Evero has had mixed success with the Panthers since taking over as defensive coordinator in 2023, but he had a solid year in 2025 that sparked the interest of some teams.

According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Evero is set to have an in-person meeting with the Raiders this week.

Kubiak has emerged as a popular candidate this year thanks to his success with the Seahawks. He's still in the midst of leading Seattle in the playoffs, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him on the Raiders sideline in the fall.

Schefter reported Sunday that the three known finalists for the Titans' head coaching gig were Saleh, Nagy and Hafley. With Hafley now off the board, it appears it's down to Saleh and Nagy.

While Saleh wasn't able to turn things around with the New York Jets, he's done tremendous work as the 49ers' defensive coordinator despite being dealt a number of injury blows.

Nagy's last time serving as a head coach also didn't go great, but he's helped lead the Chiefs to Super Bowls in two of the last three seasons.
