Latest Bills Rumors on HC Search, Brian Daboll and More Candidates After Sean McDermott Fired
The Buffalo Bills announced Jan. 19 that they fired head coach Sean McDermott, and it didn't take long for reports about his potential replacement to emerge.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday that the Bills have requested to interview Los Angeles Rams pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase for their head coaching job.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini also reported Monday that Philip Rivers has withdrawn from the running to be the Bills' new head coach.

Additionally, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Monday that Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski is still in the running for the Bills head coach job despite agreeing to a new contract with the Jaguars.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport previously reported Monday that the Bills will interview Denver Broncos passing game coordinator Davis Webb.
Russini previously reported that Brian Daboll has been requested for an interview after reporting that he was a name that "keeps coming up" given his history with the organization, the fact that he is a Buffalo native and as "someone Josh Allen loves."
Current Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady and Udinski have already interviewed for the position:
In addition, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Washington Commanders run game coordinator Anthony Lynn will interview for the job, noting Lynn was a finalist in Buffalo in 2017 before McDermott was hired. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network also reported the Bills requested Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo for an interview.
One person who won't interview for the job is former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, who "pulled out" of his scheduled meeting with the Bills, according to Russini.
Daboll is a high-profile candidate considering he was just the head coach of the New York Giants from 2022 until he was fired this past season. While he was just 20-40-1 during his tenure, he did lead the team to its first playoff win since the 2011 campaign during his first season.
He was also the offensive coordinator in Buffalo from 2018 through 2021 and helped lead the team to the playoffs three times while working with Allen. The offense finished in the top five in yards and scoring in his final two seasons as OC.
That work caught the Giants' eye and is surely remembered in Buffalo given the overall success he enjoyed with Allen.
Brady has also worked with Allen since 2022 as the quarterbacks coach his first two years and the OC the last two years. Buffalo reached the playoffs in all four of those seasons with an offense that ranked in the top 10 in scoring and yardage, so there is a track record of success.
Webb is more of an under-the-radar candidate since he is just 30 years old and isn't far removed from playing on the Bills as Allen's backup in 2021. He was also a backup for the Giants in 2022.
This season was his third on Denver's coaching staff and first as the offensive pass game coordinator. All the Broncos did was finish with the No. 1 seed in the AFC while quarterback Bo Nix impressed in his second season with 25 touchdown passes to 11 interceptions.
Webb could be a coaching star on the rise, and the Bills may jump at the chance to hire him before he becomes more of a high-profile name.
