Jim Harbaugh Eyes 'Fresh Start' for Justin Herbert, Chargers Offense After Greg Roman Firing
Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh is looking forward to a resurgent season from Justin Herbert and the rest of the team's offense after the decision was made to fire offensive coordinator Greg Roman on Tuesday.
Harbaugh said Thursday that he's eyeing a "fresh start" with the move, per ESPN's Kris Rhim.
"It's results-oriented," Harbaugh said, via Rhim. "And as an organization, we're doing everything with one goal in mind: that's to win a championship."

Roman and Chargers offensive line coach Mike Devlin were both fired just two days after Los Angeles was eliminated from the playoffs with a 16-3 loss to the New England Patriots in the Wild Card round.
The Chargers recorded just 207 total yards and averaged 3.5 yards per play in the defeat, with Herbert getting sacked six times.
Los Angeles finished with an 11-6 record in 2025 and advanced to the playoffs largely due to its defensive success, ranking No. 5 in the NFL by allowing a mere 285.2 yards per game.
The Chargers' offense struggled to keep up, though.
As for Herbert, he completed 66.4 percent of his throws for 3,727 yards and 26 touchdowns compared to 13 interceptions in the regular season. He was sacked 54 times, the third-most among all quarterbacks.
Herbert averaged just 230.2 yards per game through the air across two seasons with Roman as the Chargers' offensive coordinator. He recorded 277.8 passing yards per game during the four years prior to Roman's arrival.
Regardless of Los Angeles' next offensive coordinator, Harbaugh has high expectations for 2026.
