Eagles' Nick Sirianni Talks 'Win-Now' Approach to OC Search amid McDaniel, Daboll Rumors

Scott PolacekJan 18, 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles will have next season's Super Bowl in mind when they search for an offensive coordinator replacement for the fired Kevin Patullo.

Head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters Thursday the team is taking a "win-now" approach in the OC search since they have "win-now" players on a "win-now" team.

One target in that search is former New York Giants coach Brian Daboll, who will reportedly interview with the Eagles, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The win-now approach is far from surprising considering the Eagles are just one season removed from a Super Bowl title and won the NFC East during the 2025 campaign despite losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round.

A first-round exit is not the goal, though, as general manager Howie Roseman told reporters: "If confetti isn't falling on our head, it's not good enough. When we fall short, I look at myself. I look to improve."

Given the urgency and standards surrounding the situation, it also shouldn't be surprising some of the more notable coaching candidates around the league have already been connected to the opening.

On Wednesday, The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported both Daboll and former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel were "at the top of their list" in the OC search.

Both are considered among the top offensive minds in the sport from their time as offensive assistants and offensive coordinators even before they became head coaches.

"I think it's important we continue to evolve as an offense," Sirianni said. "...At this particular point, I love Kevin and everything he provided for the coaching staff and his five years here, a big reason why we've won a lot of football games. But at this particular, felt like that's what we needed to do."

Whoever Patullo's replacement is will have no shortage of weapons to work with since the roster includes Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, among others. That group was just 24th in the league in yards and 19th in points this past season, so finding the right OC to help maximize the talent will be key.

Hurts is also willing to take different approaches under a new OC if Sirianni's latest comments are any indication:

The Eagles sound like a team that will be in Super-Bowl-or-bust mode again next season, and now they have to find an OC with that mindset as well.
