Xavier Worthy Undergoes Surgery on Injury, Chiefs WR Posts Photo from Hospital
While Xavier Worthy dealt with multiple injuries this season, he didn't waste much time accelerating his "road to recovery" in the offseason.
The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver revealed Wednesday he underwent "successful surgery" to repair the torn labrum he suffered in Week 1 and is "coming for it all next year."
In addition to the shoulder surgery, Worthy dealt with an ankle injury during the 2025 campaign as well.
It didn't stop him from appearing in 14 games, but the 2024 first-round pick took a step back production-wise from his rookie season. He posted 59 catches for 638 yards and six touchdowns while helping lead the Chiefs to the Super Bowl as a first-year player.
The Texas product also scored a touchdown in the AFC Championship Game win over the Buffalo Bills and found the end zone twice during the Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Expectations were high coming into his second season, but the injuries partially prevented him from building on those numbers on the way to 42 catches for 532 yards and just one touchdown.
Kansas City also missed the playoffs entirely as Patrick Mahomes and others dealt with injuries. It was arguably the most disappointing team in the league, although it will surely expect to be right back among the top Super Bowl contenders next season.
Having Worthy back and fully healthy will be a major boost in that chase for a Lombardi Trophy, and he seemed to indicate he will be ready to go after his surgery.
