1 Point Slam Prize Money Winner, Rules and Highlights from Australian Open's Pre-Tournament Results
The 2026 Australian Open is set to begin on Sunday, and some of the top tennis players in the world enjoyed a quick tuneup with the 1 Point Slam.
The second edition of the Australian Open's pre-tournament event featured a mixed field that included Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, Frances Tiafoe, Alexander Zverev, Nick Kyrgios and many more.
However, the star-studded event was won by a little-known local amateur player named Jordan Smith, who secured the winner-take-all prize of one million Australian dollars ($670,000), per ESPN.
The tournament was held at Rod Laver Arena and featured professionals, amateurs and celebrities all duking it out in a one-point knockout bracket. Smith secured the win by outlasting Joanna Garland, who had defeated Zverev, Kyrgios, Maria Sakkari and Donna Vekić. Sakkari had toppled Alcaraz.
Smith amazingly got past Sinner on his way to the final of the 1 Point Slam when the two-time Australian Open winner netted his serve.
The 1 Point Slam debuted in 2025 but didn't feature the prize money or the star power of this year's event. Stakes were raised for the 2026 edition in response to the US Open revamping its mixed doubles tournament.
After Smith's monumental upset win, it can be expected that Sinner will be extra motivated to earn a third straight Australian Open title when the tournament commences this week.
